  • 1980 - Libya and Syria agree on a merger, but this too fails to materialise; Libyan troops start intervening on a large scale in civil war in northern Chad.

Maintaining order

Maintaining order is not fullfilled. The world knows her as the Libyan woman who walked into Tripoli's Rixos Hotel
al-Obeidi
al-Obeidi
in March, screaming of gang rape by Col. Moammar Gadhafi's thugs. When Al-Obeidi was 16, her brother's hunting rifle went off accidentally. She lost her little finger and doctors sewed 22 stitches across her belly.

Those scars should have helped save her reputation last year, she says.
After the hotel incident, Libyan state television aired a video of a belly dancer, sayingit was al-Obeidi. The smear campaign hurt her almost as much as the gang
rape.
"That woman had 10 fingers and no stitches on her stomach," she says. "I went to the police to ask about the video. But they did nothing."

Individual Rights:

Individual rights of the people is not fulfilled.Libyas media has had a new revolution .

Deprived of free speech for 42 years, Libyans have seized the opportunity to publish and broadcast with energy and enthusiasm. Hundreds of newspapers, countless websites, television and radio stations have sprung up from nothing.

NATIONAL DEFENSE

Poorly fulfilled. Gadaffi's army was pretty weak and were also poorly trained to fight. The military did help take down Gadaffi in the end. The military did do a good job of protecting its people though.

DIRECT ECONOMIC DECISION:
DIrect economic decisions was fulfilled since income is being made in the country. The Libyan economy depends on revenue from hydrocarbons, which make about 95% of export earnings, 65% of GDP, and 80% of government revenue. Libya in the past five years made progress on economic reform as part of a broader campaign to reintegrate the country into the international fold

PROVIDE PUBLIC SERVICES:

Providing Public services is not fulfilled.
  • There are schools that have been completely destroyed in Misrata, Zawiya, Zintan. a mine-awareness campaign has trained 280 teachers to help children avoid mines planted by Qadd

Libyans don't know anything about World War One, World War Two or the French Revolution because Qaddafi was scared of any story that might make people stand up for their rights. A few months after the uprising the rebels made a committee of education experts to take out Qaddafi's ideas from the curriculum, . The new schools, will teach more Western languages like French and English
